Food courts are a great place to get access to fast, cheap food. If you’re in Adelaide, South Australia, you have a food court just around the corner from your house or work. For some, it may be the McDonald’s on the Rundle Mall food court, but there is so much more than this! Here is a list of five nearest food courts that will leave you asking which one to choose first.
MYER CENTER FOOD COURT:
Food Underground the Myer Centre food court is conveniently located near the Rundle Mall. This is one of the busiest food courts in the city. Not only does it have food, drink and dessert options but it also has several shops for you to peruse. Nando’s, Starbucks and Oporto are just some of the many food establishments in this famous mall. Between Nando’s chicken wings with a side order of fries or Portuguese stewed beef rolls, you can choose your favourite coffee drink, such as lattes made by Starbucks that will keep you warm throughout those chilly winter days.
CITY CROSS ARCADE:
At the light-filled food court in between Rundle Mall and Grenfell Street, you’ll find a great selection of restaurants. You can get your favourite fast foods like Boost Juice or Muffin Break as well as international cuisine from KFC’s new limited-edition menu! There are also plenty more choices for those who want to stay away from chains with Roll’d Sushi bar right next door, though we don’t blame anyone if they go there first because it looks so delicious.
RENAISSANCE ARCADE:
This hidden Asian food hub in the city’s university-bred students is heaven for those seeking an alternative to cafeteria cuisine. The arcade has that traditional student restaurant vibe with lots of spots that are only open during lunchtime because they serve dine-in and takeout orders. Still, there are some more upscale options like Malaysian spot Nan yang. Zen Kitchen is known best for its cracking banh mi sandwiches or Steam & Stew, specialising in Indian fare from tandoor oven dishes right off your grill!
DINE CENTRAL:
The David Jones basement is a great place to enjoy some food and drink, but be aware that it can get pricey. You’ll find Asian flavours from places such as Roshan’s (a Malaysian restaurant that serves delicious Thai food) or sushi spot Genki Roll best known for its chicken avocado rolls – all gluten-free options! Independent cafes like Signore’s offer pastries, while Bar 9 provides coffee alongside handcrafted cocktails in an intimate setting with mood-lit decor.
THE MARKET PLAZA:
Adjacent to Chinatown, Market Plaza Arcade is a retail haven for small-goods specialists. It features 70 speciality shops plus two large food courts that offer everything from fresh produce and baked goods in the bakery section. Goodies & Grains sells fresh fruits & vegetables and organic items too; they’re open daily from 8 am until 6 pm. Next time you are hungry and looking for something nice to eat, remember that food courts are a great place to go to. Try the food court nearest to you and you’re sure to enjoy your meal.
